Every November, our team dedicates an entire week to seek the Lord’s vision for the following year. We fast and pray to hear God’s will for us personally, as an organization, and in our specific areas of LeadHer. Since I just came on staff this past October, this was my first time getting to participate in this special week. It was also unique as this was the first time we got to vision cast for where we’d like to launch new chapters internationally under our new international program! We prayed and asked God to give us His eyes to see where He was calling us to focus our attention in 2016. He delivered in big ways, as He always does. There was not one but many places He began to prepare our hearts for, but there is one country I’d like to dedicate this space to today.
God planted a burden deeply in our hearts for the country of Jamaica. Whether it be in strategic planning times for international expansion of LeadHer or in our own personal prayer times, this seems to be an area God continues to place on our hearts and burn in our minds.With a burden from the Lord and a passion to see His will accomplished in the lives of women in Jamaica, we’ve been “praying circles” around that area. The Lord has been faithful to bring to us women who have shown interest in LeadHer or continue communication with us about what a LeadHer chapter could look like in Jamaica. We are filled with excitement every time a connection there is made, because we know this has been the direction the Lord has been leading for quite some time now. However, we feel confident that the time is now, and it is extremely possible that God wants to plant more than one chapter to multiply throughout Jamaica.
Part of why we wanted to share our heart is so we could keep you updated on where God was leading us internationally and give you direction as you pray for us. However, that is not the only reason. Another reason is because we believe there are women reading this who may be sitting in Jamaica right now (such an exciting thought!) looking for a ministry opportunity or praying to God that He will provide them an outlet to be the leader they know He’s called them to be! We believe the Lord is calling, and we want to give you the opportunity to be obedient. There may be some of you reading this who don’t live in Jamaica but have a friend or connection there who you’re thinking of as you read this. We would like to encourage and invite you to take that first step of reaching out to us if your home is in Jamaica or you know of a woman in Jamaica passionate about Jesus and bringing other women and girls into community for the purpose of growing in their faith and leadership.
